Just bought a new LG 52" LCD at Best Buy. 80,000:1 dynamic contrast, 1080i the whole bit. Got the new platinum HDMI High Def cables etc all that good shit...

They offer a "calibration service" where they come to your house and change the picture settings internally via computer to supposedly enhance the picture and improve quality. and also in turn is supposed to increase longevity and life span of the TV and decrease electricity consumption.

But its like an extra 150bones. Just wondering if its really worth it? or is it just a gimmic that Best Buy is trying to push bc its a service they offer and tryin to get more money outta me?? Anyone with knowledge on the tech behind this? thats not bias bc they work at best buy....

thanks!!

shoulda gone with 1080p, 1080i is poopy.

i wouldnt go for the calibration service, play with the settings on the tv until you like what you see, you shouldnt have to mess around too much.

it is 1080p. my bad. says it right on the front of the tv. lol.

not the most up to date on this stuff, thats why i didnt know about the calibration...
