Post workout test..

Well not really a test, but I have been doing this PWO. Dextrose is used PWO by some because of it's ability to cause a high insulin response and allowing the body to absorb protein in the muscle at a fast rate. This has been out for what seems forever, but how many people are actually doing it right? People will usually mix in their protein powder with the dextrose and immediately drink it after a workout. The idea is right, but doing it this way won't actually get you the response your looking for. Why? Well lets look at digestion. How long does it take your body to take in the dex and cause that insulin spike your looking for? Right away? No, it's probably closer to 10-15 min. This would mean mixing your protein with your dex would be a bad idea. You want the insulin spike present before you take in your protein. How it should be done? Take your dextrose right after your workout. Wait 10-15, then take in your protein shake. Doing things this way will insure you'll be getting the best bang for your buck from your PWO shake ;)
 
But I am too lazy. I might change it up though I just need to stop procrastanating and get out of my bad habits. I remember reading that some Kool-Aid with Dex is good option then the pro shake...

Btw: Don't you use the 50/50 combo of malto and dex? Thats what I use.
 
What I do is drink 30g carbs worth of dex RIGHT after w/o. Wait about 5 minutes then eat about 30g carbs worth of oats. Wait about another 2-3 minutes and down a 50g protein shake.

I just started doing this though. I've tried just dex and just oats with whey and I felt much more recovered with the oats but I wanted to try a combo.

Too early to tell if it's superior or not.
 
I cant take in any protein right after my dex/malto anyway. I got my shipment yesterday of my dex/malto and after I lifted and then took in 1 scoop of that, I was too full to take in any protein directly after . I had to wait like 15 minutes, then sip my protein down.
