Help a brutha out..

I've been working midnights now for about a month. I have yet to get more than 8 hours of sleep. My bodies going nuts and definitely see the negetive results from it. I'm lost a shit load of weight, and pretty much feel like shit all the time. Not to mention i'm sick half the time lol. I know there are tons of Med's out there for this, but I dont' want to take anything my bodies going to get used to, and won't be able to sleep without, as I don't play on doing midnights forever (hope not). Any tips suggestions, let a brutha know thanks!
 
whats the problem you cant fall asleep? try some melatonin.. i work 12 hours shifts my body went thru the same kind of shit yours is... youll adjust.. you got to start taking a multi vitamen.. i take vitamen e garlic pills fish oil and a multi vitamen.. make sure your eating good.. eat as much as you can..
 
The night shift will mess you up. I did it for 4 years and I have not slept the same since. That was 15 years ago. I haven't got 8 hours of sleep in one shot for years.
 
Bro i work 12am-8am tues-sat....I at the most get about 6-6.5 hours of sleep on work days, its tough but you will kind of adjust....as far as the sleeping thing goes, i just take melatonin 3mg tabs from rite aid, one before i hit the sack and it helps me stay asleep the whole time....i was going to bed and waking up to use the bathroom or something and not being able to go back to sleep....it sucked, but the melatonin helped out a ton...and you dont feel groggy when you wake up, you actually feel like you got some good sleep....and i do not need it on days off.....you do not become dependent on it at all......also, buy some dark curtains to pull over the window, it really helps.....

Good tip! I do the graveyard shift about 3 months out of the year...been doing that for a long time. I went a bit further and covered the windows in my bedroom with aluminum foil...my room was dark as midnight at noon.lol Makes all the difference in the world. Also, cut your phone off to avoid being awakened. Buy a small fan for your room...the steady background noise from the fan helps filter out any other shit like barking dogs, lawn mowers, etc. ;)
 
DARK room , fans/radio/etc. for white noise to drown out kids/dogs/traffic/etc. get a schedule and STICK to it =sleep same time every day to at least try to adjust . try melatonon , benadryll , etc. 1st and if all else fails try a script just to use when you have to have it .

The ones with RippedFreak are the most popular tho .. just not my taste quite frankly.
 
Other than the sleep tips, i went to a Romanian dr awhile back and she said that best thing for immunity is to drink 2-8oz glass of OJ (specifically Tropicana the one that is not from concentrate) also taking multi and extra vit-c, garlic (fresh if you can tollerate it, if not the one from whole cloves, and onions (prefferably raw or just sauteed lightly with alittle olive oil). It is easy to take this every day and it will help buildup you natural immune system, so you dont get the flu, colds etc. You have to find a way to get more sleep tho bro, cause gettin proper rest if mandatory for the body to recover and help keep you functioning properly. I remember well working swing shift when i was young and i would not advise that for anyone. Hell, take a pay cut if you have to. Your health is more important than the money.
 
i know this sounds funny..but I remember my nephew having this thing in his crib that made a noise kindof sounded like muffled waves or something. Its to help them fall asleep, but it made me want to pass out anytime I was in his room lol. Room temperature is a big thing for me too when I cant sleep. They say it helps to not have your entire body under covers, because part of what helps you sleep is when your body temperature lowers. Rubbin one out never helped me sleep much haha..just woke me up even more
 
Thanks everyone, finally feel like I'm getting back to a regular sleeping schedule. The melatonon works like a gem! :D

ear plugs work wonders....

I used them during both our childrens "early" years...
